Al Who?

In the wake of the arrests of eight (now nine) suspected terrorists in London, a snippet of today's coffee time conversation went something like this:

'A' said: "They're all so young. Do you think they were really recruited by Al Qaeda? Perhaps they're just disillusioned and misguided muslim kids, trying to plan something off their own bat?"

'B' said: "Who's Al Qaeda?"

'A' said: "Y'know... Osama Bin Laden?"

'B' said: "Oh sure, I've heard of him, but not Al Whatsisname... who's he?"

I was gobsmacked, to say the least.
